316L Mod Pipe
The UREA 316L Modified grade is a unique alloy designed specifically for use in Urea plants. The UREA 316L Modified grade features a modified 316L stainless steel composition with significantly higher molybdenum levels and minimized silicon content.
The alloy is completely austenitic and does not contain any intermetallic phase precipitations due to its low carbon content and a well-balanced chemistry with low levels of silicon and nickel, close to 14%. Through the use of solution annealing and water quenching, the ferrite level of the alloy is controlled to remain below 0. 5%. This alloy is specifically engineered to enhance its resistance to corrosion when exposed to Urea-carbonate environments. After undergoing Huey tests (ASTM A262 C – five cycles of 48 hours), the typical maximum corrosion levels specified by different standards are as follows: the acceptable maximum weight loss during a 48-hour period (equivalent to 24 hours per day) is 3.3 µm or 130 mg/dm². Additionally, any microcracks that may occur should have a maximum depth of 200 µm in the long direction and 70 µm in the transverse direction. During a 2-year production period, 100 test results were conducted on the 316LMod Pipe. The results showed that the grade exhibited superior performance compared to the maximum values indicated on the graphs.
