321H Pipe
Stainless steel 321H is an austenitic stainless steel suitable for a variety of applications and is formulated with stabilization against carbide precipitation, allowing it to perform in temperatures ranging from 427 to 816°C (800 to 1500°F). In its annealed state, Grade 321H stainless steel is not magnetic and can only be hardened through cold working. The alloy contains added Titanium to prevent the formation of chromium carbides along grain boundaries, improving its resistance to intergranular corrosion.
The variation between stainless steel grades 321 and 321H is determined by the carbon content present in each metal. 321 has a maximum of 0.08% carbon, whereas 321H contains between 0.04% and 0.10% carbon. Both grades include manganese up to 2.0%, silicon up to 0.75%, and phosphorous up to 0.045%. Additionally, Grade 321H stainless steel contains no more than 0.03% sulfur, and chromium makes up between 17.0% and 19.0% of the alloy. Nitrogen content is capped at 0.10%. The inclusion of titanium is a defining characteristic of 321 and 321H stainless steel plates, with titanium levels reaching up to 0.70%.
