Product Introduction
INCONEL 625 PIPE
Inconel 625 is a nickel alloy known for its exceptional resistance to corrosion and oxidation in aqueous environments, as well as its impressive strength. This niobium-stabilized nickel alloy contains chromium and molybdenum, and is known for its exceptional ability to withstand aggressive situations, including crevice corrosion, pitting, and oxidation at high temperatures.
The high strength and toughness of this alloy are attributed to the inclusion of niobium, which works together with molybdenum to reinforce its matrix. Alloy 625 boasts exceptional resistance to stress-corrosion cracking from chloride ions, as well as impressive fatigue strength. The superb weldability of this nickel alloy makes it a popular choice for welding AL-6XN in a variety of applications. This alloy displays outstanding resistance to various corrosive environments, particularly in terms of preventing both crevice and pitting corrosion.
The resistance of INCONEL alloy 625 to nitric acid is considered to be good. It is common to observe a corrosion rate of 30 mpy (0.76 mm/a) in boiling 65% acid for this material. The material has been specially stabilized to prevent sensitization and can be used in oxidizing acids without the need for post-weld heat treatment. Compared to the 236 mpy (5.99 mm/a) corrosion rate of AISI 316 stainless steel in boiling 15% nitric/3% hydrofluoric acid solution, the corrosion rate of INCONEL alloy 625 is much lower at only 34 mpy (0.86 mm/a).
INCONEL alloy 625 has excellent resistance to organic acids. After 48-hour laboratory tests in boiling acid solutions, INCONEL alloy 625 showed very low corrosion rates, with results of <1 mpy (<0.03 mm/a) in glacial acetic acid, 4 mpy (0.10 mm/a) in 1:1 acetic-acetic anhydride, 1 mpy (0.03 mm/a) in 10% acetic + 2% formic, and 3 mpy (0.08 mm/a) in 5% formic acid.
This nickel alloy is commonly used in various industries such as chemical, oil and gas extraction, pollution control, pulp and paper, aerospace, nuclear engineering, and heat treating.
