Inconel Alloy 625 Plate
INCONEL® nickel-chromium alloy 625 (UNS N06625/W.Nr. 2.4856) is a nickel-based material that is highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation. It is also non-magnetic in nature. This material exhibits remarkable strength and toughness, even in extreme temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 2000°F (1093°C), attributed to the strong bonding between the refractory metals, columbium, and molybdenum, and a nickel-chromium alloy matrix. The fatigue strength and resistance to stress-corrosion cracking from chloride ions of Inconel® 625, a nickel alloy, are exceptional.
INCONEL Alloy 625 Plate has potential applications in the nuclear industry, particularly for components such as reactor cores and control rods in water-cooled nuclear reactors. The material is suitable for selection due to its strength, uniform resistance to corrosion, resistance to cracking caused by stress, and impressive resistance to pitting in water temperatures of 500-600°F (260-316°C). Alloy 625 Plate is being evaluated for advanced reactor applications due to its superior design strength at elevated temperatures, specifically within the range of 1200°F to 1400°F (649°C to 760°C).
