GENERAL PROPERTIES:
Alloy 317L is a type of low carbon austenitic stainless steel that contains molybdenum and has significantly higher levels of chromium and nickel than standard stainless steels. These added elements improve its resistance to corrosion and make it more resistant to the harmful effects of chemicals, including sulfurous, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids. 317L, owing to its low level of carbon, is capable of withstanding sensitization during welding procedures, as well as exhibiting superior creep, stress-to-rupture, and tensile strength at heightened temperatures. While exhibiting non-magnetic properties in its annealed state, 317L may experience a minor magnetic shift after undergoing welding.
APPLICATIONS:
Alloy 317L finds extensive application in the processing of sulfur, pulp liquor, acid dyestuffs, acetylating and nitrating mixtures, bleaching solutions, as well as in handling severe coal and oil, and various chemical compounds. Additionally, it is utilized in a range of other applications:
