2205 Pipe
The chemical composition of Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe features a blend of 22% Chromium, 3% Molybdenum, and 5-6% Nickel, combined with nitrogen alloying. As a result, this pipe boasts exceptional durability, featuring high resistance to general, localized, and stress corrosion, as well as impressive strength and impact toughness.
Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe outperforms 316L or 317L austenitic stainless steels in nearly all corrosive environments, delivering unparalleled pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. In addition to its corrosion and erosion fatigue resistance, it exhibits lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic materials.
With a yield strength approximately twice that of austenitic stainless steels, Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel offers weight-saving benefits for designers, making it a more cost-effective option in comparison to 316L or 317L.
For applications that require a temperature range between -50°F and +600°F, Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe is an excellent choice. However, if temperatures fall outside of this range, certain limitations may need to be imposed, especially for welded structures.
The combination of exceptional strength and exceptional corrosion resistance make Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe highly resistant to corrosion fatigue. It is an advantageous choice for industrial applications where processing equipment faces both severe corrosion and cyclic loading conditions.
