Difference between carbon steel pipe and galvanized steel pipe

1. The production process is different

Carbon steel pipes are made of steel ingots or solid round steels through perforation into capillary tubes, which are then hot-rolled, cold-rolled or cold-drawn. Carbon steel pipe plays an important role in my country’s steel pipe industry.

The manufacturing method of the black pipe (furnace welding or electric welding) is selected by the manufacturer. Galvanizing adopts hot dip galvanizing method. The uniformity of the galvanized layer The galvanized steel pipe shall be tested for the uniformity of the galvanized layer. The steel pipe sample shall not turn red (copper-plated color) after being continuously dipped in copper sulfate solution for 5 times.

2. The materials used are different

General carbon steel pipe: It is made of 10, 20, 30, 35, 45 and other high-quality carbon steel 16Mn, 5MnV and other low-alloy structural steel or 40Cr, 30CrMnSi, 45Mn2, 40MnB and other alloy steel hot-rolled or cold-rolled. Seamless pipes made of low carbon steel such as 10 and 20 are mainly used for fluid transportation pipelines.

Hot-dip galvanized pipes are made by reacting the molten metal with the iron matrix to produce an alloy layer, so that the matrix and the coating are combined. Hot-dip galvanizing is to pickle the steel pipe first. In order to remove the iron oxide on the surface of the steel pipe, after pickling, it is cleaned in the tank of ammonium chloride or zinc chloride aqueous solution or mixed aqueous solution of ammonium chloride and zinc chloride, and then sent to the in the hot dip bath.

3. Different technical parameters

Carbon steel pipe plays an important role in my country’s steel pipe industry. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 240 carbon steel pipe manufacturers in my country, with about 250 sets of carbon steel pipe units, with an annual production capacity of about 4.5 million tons.

From the perspective of diameter, <φ76, accounting for 35%, <φ159-650, accounting for 25%. In terms of varieties, 1.9 million tons of general-purpose pipes, accounting for 54%; 760,000 tons of petroleum steel pipes, accounting for 5.7%; 150,000 tons of hydraulic props and precision pipes, accounting for 4.3% of stainless steel pipes, bearing pipes and automobile pipes, a total of 50,000 tons. 1.4%.
